Applications for the Hip-Hop Boot Camp 2018 are open.

As hip-hop in Uganda there are few activities and events that we can look forward to every year on our calendars  and of one them is Bayimba’s Hip-Hop Boot Camp. Every year Bayimba and its partners give opportunity to young rappers through the Hip-Hop boot camp  platform to learn various vital industry skills from different industry practitioners. In case you’re reading about The Hip Hop Boot Camp for the first time, the boot camp is an intensive two-week residential training aimed at conveying music industry skills to talented emerging hip hop artists across the Uganda.

The training focuses on Song Writing, Live Performance & Studio Preparations, Rap Cipher, Financial Literacy, Profile Writing, Impact of Internet & Social Media, Visual Aspect of Music, Album Recording Sessions, and Personal Development (see full course program here). Furthermore, the training will hold lectures on the Hip Hop Elements and UG Hip Hop Awards. The participants also get  to actively put what they’re learning from these lectures to use by recording their own song compositions with the guidance from 3 professional residential producers. These compositions result into  a 10 track audio album (listen to the 2017 Hip-Hop album here).  Making it to greater heights in the industry takes more than just being talented and in the video below we get to watch what the various facilitators and rappers speak about the boot camp experience in 2017.

The Boot camp offers this unique opportunity to a limited number of young rappers but it’s open to every rapper across Uganda regardless of the language you use to create your art or where you’re from. The training covers all expenses (transport costs, meals and accommodation) throughout the two week program. This year the training will take place from the 18th – 30th June 2018 in Mukono. All you’ve to do to be a part of this year’s training is apply by completing an entry form with the following; a completed entry form (download), attach a profile/short biography (max. 800 words) with recent picture(s) that will be used for publicity, a motivation for your participation in the training (max. 500 words), sample of your work- mp3 song/ 2 acapella verses by 25th of May 2018.  The good folks at Bayimba further made it easy in that you can even request for for an application form via sylvester@bayimba.org or call +256 702732065, +256 772469731/+256 751960602 for more assistance.
