As we continue to fulfill our objective of having UG hip-hop music in one place that is The Tribe UG, we decided to start a segment known as #ThrowbackHeat and it will be happening every Thursday. Every Thursday we will be revisiting singles or projects that shook up the industry back then when all we had was radio, internet was an expensive luxury and we couldn’t forward each other songs on whatsapp. This Thursday we will be throwing it back to a single off the classic “Koyi Koyi” album (you can purchase the album here) known as “Mwana Wa Baaba“. This is the album that made lugaflow “cool” to a different music market in Uganda and it exposed Ugandan hip-hop to a whole new crowd. Like the album this single is a classic that featured Benon Mugumbya. The song had GNL spit rhymes on traditional instruments which made the song more appealing to a wide audience and in the process made hip-hop consumable to a downtown music fan.
